Radio presenter and entertainer, Alucius Mocumi, has catch the acting bug having scored a role in a local South African film titled Isono Sam.

The film is premiered on Mzansi Magic on Channel 161.

Mocumi (29) featured in the episode screened on 19 January. The new role sees him add to his list of expertise in the art industry. Currently he works as a radio presenter for OFM.

Mocumi aims higher and aspires becoming one of TV’s heartthrobs.

He said his goal is to get a leading role in a Hollywood blockbuster movie inspired by a stellar TV debut performance in the film Isono Sam.

“I’m looking into more acting opportunities. I think for every actor the aim is to see yourself on the major platforms of Hollywood, but I would love to see myself in local soapies and series. It would be amazing.

“Once you start and you feel the calling within you, you must answer it and keep going,” said Mocumi.

Isono Sam’s storyline follows the lives of two brothers and sons of a dying business tycoon who faces a dilemma of choosing one of his two sons to take the reins at his businesses when he dies. The father’s difficult decision is largely influenced by his sons’ different lifestyles, thus creating a bitter brother rivalry.

Mocumi plays the character of Kane Zulu – one of the brothers – while Robert Mpisi, who gained popularity for his role as Matlala in Isidingo, plays his older brother.

Torn between his two sons, the father chooses one of them to take over his company – but the big question is: Did he make the right choice?

Mocumi is also a professional dancer, choreographer, voice over artist, musician, music producer and events MC. While launching his radio career, he was simultaneously hitting high pinnacles on the dance floor picking up several accolades in both individual and group dance formats.

He competed at the 2010 Dance World Cup in Italy where he claimed second spot in the jazz dance and dance groups categories.

In 2012 he made his first TV appearance on SABC 1’s dance hit show Jika MaJika and won one particular episode.

Mocumi has scooped seven awards at the Matlosana Entertainment Music Awards from 2011 to 2015, and shared the stage with platinum selling artist Elvis Blue, and the opening for big hip-hop acts such as for Mr Fill Up, Cassper Nyovest.
