The Thaba Nchu Regional Court has slapped rapist Moholi Joseph Letuka (24) with a hefty prison sentence.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment after the court found him guilty of raping a 27-year-old woman on 25 March last year.

The incident occurred at the Sediba Trust near Seloshesha in Thaba Nchu.

Sgt. Martin Xuma, police spokesperson, said the accused, a Lesotho national, cornered the victim who was returning home from a local tavern at midnight.

Xuma said the accused began to sexually assault the woman in an open veld along the road.

Investigation revealed the accused forcedly took the victim to his place where he continued to sexually assault her.

Letuka will serve 25 years before becoming eligible for parole consideration.
