Motladiela Zacharia Tlhokwe (21) was sentenced to six terms of life imprisonment for rape, seven years imprisonment for house breaking and eight months imprisonment for stolen cellphones.

The sentence was handed down to the accused by the High Court in Kimberley on Wednesday (20/06).

According to the police spokesperson, Capt. Sergio Kock, this sentence emanated from an incident on 22 October 2016 in Warrenton.

“The 14-year-old victim was sleeping and was woken at around 02:00 by an unknown male on top of her. She fought with him, but stopped fighting when he pulled out a knife,” said Kock.

“He then ordered her to undress and raped her. He allegedly dragged the victim to other rooms and raped her several times. He then told her to wash herself and left with two cellphones.”

Provincial commissioner, Lt Gen. Risimati Peter Shivuri, welcomed the lengthy prison term. He commended the investigative process of Sgt Mothusimang Salokale.
