Rapists convicted, sent to jail

Several accused throughout the Northern Cape have been convicted of rape and sentenced to jail recently.

Nkululeko Matlali (25) was sentenced to eight years imprisonment by the Colesberg Regional Court for raping a 37-year-old woman in Kuyasa in 2016.

Also, Hendrick Seekoei (29) was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment with five years suspended for five years for raping a 41-year-old woman.

In a separate incident, three detai-nees in De Aar were found guilty of raping another detainee. Klaas Blouw, Shane Rooi and Kevin Vissagie (all 20) were sentenced from six to ten years for raping a 20-year-old victim in the dormitory.
