Three men found guilty of separate cases of rape will serve long prison terms.

Two of the accused received lesser sentences of ten and 15 years, while one received a life sentence. The accused were recently sentenced by the Bloemfontein High Court and the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court.

The accused who received the heaviest sentence is Mathews Kebautlwile (24).

He was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping his ex-lover (22) and received an additional five years for kidnapping the victim in 2015.

Sgt Ikobeng Hlubi, spokesperson for the Mangaung police cluster, says the accused had held the victim captive for several days at his residence in Phase 4, Bloemfontein, where he raped her. She says the victim had reported the incident after being freed.

Mpeoa Thabang David (22) was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment and Monyane Samuel (43) to 15 years.

These two men reportedly raped their victims at separate places in 2015.
