Remark wounds United

2016-01-27 06:00

TED DUMITRU has slammed the style of football of Gordon Igesund’s inconsistent SuperSport United side and called Dean Furman “mediocre”.

United were beaten 0-2 by Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday (23/01).

It was Matsatsantsa’s second successive loss after they were embarrassed 1-4 by Polokwane City last week.

SuperSport have only collected 4 wins in 17 games so far in the Absa Premiership this season and lie 10th on the table, 16 points behind the leaders, Sundowns.

The former Bafana Bafana coach says SuperSport’s mixture of players with different mentalities and a lack of creativity are reasons the team is not doing well this season.

“Regarding what is expected from SuperSport, it’s clear that in many ways their game is opposite of how South African football should be played . . . excessive physicality instead of superior technique and stereotyped predictability instead of creativity,” said Dumitru on social media.

“The strange mixture of players from different mentalities, background and styles, combined with the mediocrity of team leader Dean Furman makes SuperSport an unpleasant team to watch,” he added.
