The Mangaung Retired Teachers’ Association marked the ten-year milestone of its existence, recognising members for their contribution to sustainability. The association held its anniversary function on 17 September at the Ilanga Estate in Bloemfontein. The body was founded in 2009 by a group of retired teachers, who deemed it necessary to continue towards community development. The event also focusses on strides made through community-upliftment programmes and working with community-based organisations to improve the lives of needy people. The body came a long way in the past ten years and with numerous successes, playing a critical role in intervention in social challenges. The highlights of the anniversary was the Certificates of Honour and Appreciation presented to founding members, recognising their contribution towards the success of the programme and ensuring its continued existence.
