Roadshow to benefit artists

2018-03-14 06:00

Local artists within the Mangaung Metro Municipality stand to benefit from a two week roadshow that is underway.

“The roadshow aims at empowering artists in Mangaung and to give them a platform to engage with their peers,” said Qondile Khedama, spokesperson of the Mangaung Metro.

While the scope of the focus of the event will be interactive with local artists, Khedama said the series of roadshows will see the introduction of the non-profit organisation, Creative and Cultural Industries Federation of South Africa (CCIFSA).

This as a legal federation aimed at serving the art sector, and to form councils for the different art sectors.

CCIFSA, focusing on the development and the empowering of artists, was officially launched in 2014 at the University of the Free State.

All artists in the city are invited to these roadshows.

The roadshows are to be held in Bloemfontein, Botshabelo, Thaba Nchu, Dewetsdorp, Wepener, Soutpan and Vanstadensrus and will run until Friday, 23 March.

This roadshow is a partnership between CCIFSA, the Mangaung Metro, the Department of Arts and Culture and the Performing Arts Council of the Free State (Pacofs).

The roadshow already commenced with two events staged in Thaba Nchu on Thursday (08/03) and in Botshabelo on Friday (09/03), respectively.

Call Ayanda Roda on 072-800-8995 for more information about the roadshows.
