SAB LEAGUE players can now look forward to enrolling for a course of their choice, thanks to the SAB League Study Assistance Programme. The program aims to fund their tertiary studies.

South African Breweries (SAB), in close partnership with the South African Football Association (Safa), proudly announced the official opening of the SAB League Study Assistance Programme through a statement by M-Sports. The programme is part of SAB’s refined approach to its involvement in the country’s largest football development league. The league currently boasts over 30 000 participants nationwide.

SAB’s Octavius Phukubye stated that the programme was in line with the SAB’s vision of a holistic approach to football development through the SAB League.

“The Study Assistance Programme will present the players with a unique opportunity to work their way towards a professional football career with the advantage of a solid foundation of an academic qualification, which has become key in modern sport,” added Phukubye.

Safa’s director of competitions, Balebetse Monnakgotla, commented that the introduction of the study programme was a step in the right direction for the overall development of football.

“Our partnership with the SAB continues to yield incredible results for Safa’s vision of football development. We have the opportunity to produce footballers who can be good role models in our communities while at the same time improving the standard of football in our country,” says Monnakgotla.

Application forms for the Study Assistance Programme are available at Safa regional offices countrywide.
