The national karate team of the South African Police Service (SAPS) participated in the Karate South Africa (KSA) Championship that was held in Cape Town on 17 and 18 March.

Karatekas from all over South Africa participated and it made the competition even tougher.

According to Capt. Sergio Kock, police spokesperson, the following members received medals:

  • Lt.Col Samuel Nkosi: silver in kata;
  • WO Ansunette Stemmet: bronze in kumite;
  • Const. Daniel Phetlo: bronze in kumite;
  • Sgt. Frank Helmie: bronze in kumite; and
  • WO Bushy Figlan: bronze in kumite.

The police in the Northern Cape congratulated all its members who participated and who won medals.
