Sassa opens service point centres

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has opened a fully-equipped service point centre at the AIDS Centre in Chris Hani, Bloemfontein.

This was officially opened on Wednesday, 1 March, by Sibongile Setlaba, acting regional executive manager of Sassa.

Setlaba was accompanied by the district management team.

Sandy Godlwana, communication and marketing manager, said the centre will ensure the rendering of efficient services to the community.

She said the opening of the service point centre has ended the distress of many applicants who had to board taxis or walk to service centres at Kgotsong near Rocklands and the others in town to have their applications processed.

“Through such a centre, Sassa will be able to fulfil its promise of providing world class social security services, even in the most rural areas of the country where government services would ordinarily be difficult to access,” said Setlaba.

The service point centre at Chris Hani offers all grant types and will also deal with enquiries.

Sassa intends to acquire more service points in the Free State.

Setlaba said service point centres will soon be opened in Grassland in Bloemfontein.

Another service point centre has already been opened in Bainsvlei.

The office is open from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00.
