Sassa warns about fake messages

2020-01-22 06:00

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) warns the public about a fake message claiming that the agency provides uniforms and stationery to school children who receive the child support grant.

The message was circulated via WhatsApp days before the start of the first school term for 2020.

The agency requests social grant beneficiaries to be wary of false messages which sound too good to be true, and discourages the circulation of such messages.

For more information call the Sassa toll-free line on 080-060-1011 or 051-410-8339. This can also be used to confirm the authenticity of messages from Sassa.
