School athletes compete in FS finals

The Free State Schools Ath­letics Championships are at their peak, with the finals taking place on Friday (01/03) and Saturday (02/03).

The best performers at the provincial finals automatically advance to the national finals to compete for honours in track and field events.

The primary schools final will be held in Sasolburg on Saturday and the secondary schools final will be held in Bloemfontein on Friday and Saturday.

The provincial finals feature teams from the five regions: Motheo, Xhariep, Lejwelepu­tswa, Thabo Mofutsanyana and Fezile Dabi.

The athletes in the respective teams qualified on me­rited performances at events held at zone and district level.

Approximately 500 secon­dary school athletes and 300 primary school athletes will compete in track and field events.
