2016-06-01 06:00

COUNTRY music singer Margie Anderson is set to rock the Windmill’s Conference Centre when performing there on Friday (03/06). She is an accomplished vocalist, as well as a multi-instrumentalist who has mastered the recorder, piano, percussion, drums, bassoon and guitar. The show is set to start at 18:00.

Anderson’s orchestral career started at a young age. She performed in brass bands, various musical groups and the Free State Youth Orchestra. She performed with numerous international and local artists such as Dana Winner, Helmut Lotti, Steve Hofmeyr, Lucas Maree, Nico Carstens, Abdul Ibrahim, Sonja Herholdt, Romanz, Nianell, Mathys Roets, Theuns Jordaan, Laurika Rauch, Ella Kotze and Brandon October during her time with the Bloemfontein Children’s Choir.

Anderson was also privileged to tour the world and performed at events in Belgium, America, Canada, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, England and Japan.

A qualified teacher, she teaches art, culture, music and vocal classes at the Brebner Primary School in Bloemfontein. She offers lessons in guitar, marimba and drumming and conducts the school choir.

After a stint with the National Orchestra as percussionist she continued to perform with the KwaZulu-Natal Symphony Orchestra. In 2013 she performed with the Camerata orchestra of the University of the Free State (UFS) and travelled to perform in Russia. To this day, she still performs with the Bloemfontein City and Free State Symphony Orchestras.

The show promises to be a fun-filled evening of country music at her Country Saloon show at Windmill. Tickets cost R100 per person, which includes a snack basket.
