It is a great opportunity to share my view on the importance of self-love with women.

I refer to women who bath, smell good and feel great about themselves before finding men or in relationships before having children.

I know in marriage we face a lot of different challenges causing stress, depression and a lack of self-esteem.

I used to think that being married means you should take care of the household, children and your in-laws.

In the middle of that I forgot about the most important person – me.

Every morning after my husband went to work and the children to school, I knew I was alone from 07:00 to 15:00.

After I had breakfast and a bath, I used to sit and watch television the whole day.

I did not bother to look for a job. I was doing just fine being taken care of. At 15:00 I would start something like breathing again because it was close to my husband’s knock-off time.

That was my everyday lifestyle.

I have a friend and when she was around, we would go out like any other friends do.

But I would be in such a hurry to be home to be in my space and in my peace because I was used to it.

This was my routine until 2009, when I met this woman who reminded me of my dreams, intelligence and my reason for being on earth. She introduced me to the one that gave me this life, which is God.

That is when I started going to home cell meetings with her, and she had older friends who I learned a lot from.

When you find yourself in such a state, find or befriend older, wiser, married Christian women who can guide and support you.

Fortunately enough, I have a mother, grandmother and mother-in-law who stand by me and form my support system.

Let us live our lives and dreams, but not forget our roles as wives and mothers too.

I can say that we have three lives, three roles to play – being a wife, mother and yourself. Never forget to balance the three lives.

I was fortunate to learn that my husband supports my dreams and ambitions. I have come to realise after divorce most women realise #Selflove, which is something that they had before marriage and lost in the midst of challenges.

You will see divorced women on social media posting #Selflove – where was this before?

I urge all women to love themselves regardless.

Love yourself more than any human, including your very own husband. Love yourself enough to a point where that love overflows to your husband and children and the society.

Love yourself to the point of death, even when you feel unworthy of your own love.

Love yourself until that mirror you look into says “you look amazing”.

No one will love you more than yourself, except God.

Loving yourself leads to happiness; happiness leads to inner peace; and inner peace leads to a healthy glow – because you are a supernova.
