Singers, dancers to compete

2018-02-28 06:01

The Bloem Show Computicket Talent Search competition will again be held this year.

The competition is presented in conjunction with Computicket, the Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation and the Golden Bean Free State Music Awards.

This initiative aims at unearthing Mangaung’s hidden talent.

It seeks youth who have singing and dancing talent.

“We find that the previous winners over the years are still reaping the rewards of their hard work and passion. Bloem Show proudly supports local talent,” says Elmarie Prinsloo, chief executive officer of Bloem Show.

Auditions for this year’s edition of the Bloem Show Computicket Talent Search competition will be held at the Civic Theatre on 10 March. Registration will take place from 08:00 to 13:00, and the judges will only be able to see the first 100 contestants.

Participants will be evaluated by a panel of expert judges who are on the lookout for individuals or groups with a creative edge and a flair for either singing or dancing. The panel of judges will select 20 semi-finalists.

The winner is guaranteed a cash prize of R10 000. The runner-up will receive R5 000, and the third place will get R2 500.

The remaining seven finalists will each get R500 for their efforts.

The 20 finalists from both categories will be shortlisted before going through to the semi-finals on 28 April.

The winners will be announced at the final, which will be held at the Bloem Show on 30 April at 18:00.

These finalists will also get the chance to participate in the category of best newcomer at the annual Golden Bean Free State Music Awards later this year.

Contestants are therefore urged to take advantage of this opportunity.

Contestants are advised to take note of the following conditions prior to auditioning:

  • Only dancing and singing will be allowed.
  • Performances may not be longer than three minutes.
  • No bands are allowed – only backtracks and acoustics.
  • Participants must be aged 18 to 30 with no professional experience.
