THE stage is set for the kickoff of the 2015-’16 SAB League provincial play-offs from Thursday (16/06) to Sunday (19/06).

Group A will see Kakamas Sundowns (Siyanda Region) and Van der Stel (Namakwa Region) play against each other. The winner will be promoted to the ABC Motsepe League’s Stream A.

In Group B, United Rovers from Pixley ka Seme, Dalton Brothers from Frances Baard and Young Stars from John Taolo Gaetsewe take each other on.

The games will follow a round-robin system and the tournament will be played in Batlharos, Kuruman.

The winner of this group will be promoted to the ABC Motsepe League’s Stream B.

Group B favourites Rovers, who edged out Douglas side Charton FC by 6-1 in the mini SAB League regional play-offs that were played in Britstown recently, face a tough challenge from Dalton Brothers, who used to play in the old Vodacom League.

Dalton’s captain, Tefo Malejoane, has been on a journey that has taken him to about three clubs in the SAB League.

He is now focusing on guiding his troops to the next level.

“Having spent eight years playing in the Castle League, I think now is the time for me to move to the high level. This season I scored 35 goals. It is going to be tough at the play-offs, but the spirit and hard work shown by the guys are amazing,” he says.

The 24-year-old who started his football career at Tiger Chiefs under Kabelo Setlogelo is currently working for the South African Defence Force (SANDF0 and says sometimes juggling his day job and football can be very difficult.

“It is tough. I work a seven-to-four shift, so when I knock off, I go straight home to fetch my training gear and head to Dalton’s training ground,” he says.

Malejoane, affectionately known as Teves, will try to fight like a soldier on the pitch when Dalton will be trying to add more Kimberley teams to the ABC Motsepe League next season.
