Talented athlete Galaletsang Melato (13) has been chosen as the May winner of Express Let’s Play Sport Star of the Month for his sporting achievements in athletics.

His achievements followed stunning performances at athletic meetings this year.

Galaletsang is a Gr. 7 learner at the Brandwag Primary School and is passionate about athletics.

He participated in a series of events that include the Zone A meeting where he finished in first place in the high-jump in the boys u.13 category.

He continued with his impressive performance at this year’s Fichie Itec Prestige Athletic meeting and the Free State Primary Schools Athletics Championship.

Galaletsang attained second position in the respective events.

The merited performance by this aspiring high-jumper earned him a third place at the Motheo/Xhariep Championship in March in Bloemfontein.

He did well at this year’s South African Schools Athletics primary schools’ championship in the Western Cape.

Galaletsang finished in the top ten after another good show from his side.

He obtained the ninth position out of the scores of candidates that took part in the high-jump event.

Galaletsang’s motto is: “Discipline makes you humble; practice makes you perfect.”

More on the Let’s Play initiative:

SuperSport over time has evolved as the quintessential sports authority. With such strong sporting influence within the South African market, SuperSport has been perfectly poised to harness this power and rally the public and corporates to truly make a difference in society.

SuperSport identified that there were huge issues severely inhibiting the development of children through skills learned by playing, physical education and sport – all of which are imperative to the holistic development of young people.

It was from this insight that Let’s Play was born in November 2005 with the aim of elevating awareness of our social situation and to introduce and encourage play, activity and sport in schools. For more information, please contact Lynne or Juanré at Z PR on 051-522 9574
