Stars need win

2016-10-12 06:00

ITALIAN coach Giovanni Solinas hopes to mark his return to Free State Stars with a win in Saturday’s (15/10) Premier Soccer League fixture against Martizburg United. The match will be played at Goble Park Stadium in Bethlehem. Kick-off is at 15:30. The Italian returned following the club’s poor start in the current season. Ea Lla Koto have lost three matches and recorded two draws. They are still without a win and will be looking to record a first win in the new term under the reappointed Solinas, who has helped stabilise the team during the past season. However, he left in a huff despite the good work he had done turning Stars into a competitive side.

The Italian coach’s sterling work saw Ea Lla Koto reach the semi-final of the 2015 Nedbank Cup. The Free State team gave the match away, losing 4-2 to Orlando Pirates.

Saturday’s fixture against United will be the first official match with the Italian in charge following his appointment two weeks ago.
