The youth of Pampierstad and the surrounding areas have now been given an opportunity to celebrate the end of each year on a positive note.

This is thanks to the local community-based non-profit organisation (NPO) Kopanommogo.

Kopanommogo is planning a youth empowerment session to be launched on Friday, 30 December.

This first event will be hosted by Kopanommogo with the aim of empowering, engaging and inspiring the youth by inviting motivational speakers to address them.

This NPO was founded by Pam-pierstad-based Lebogang Monchosi, an author, motivational speaker and businesswoman who is passionate about helping and making a diffe-rence in other people’s life.

Monchosi is originally from Pam-pierstad and has a passion for youth development.

The aim of the organisation is to contribute to the social development of the youth.

It aims to reach out to the needy, desperate and disabled through assisting in restoring their dignity.

Elaborating on their objectives, Monchosi says that Kopanommogo’s focus is on youth empowerment. This is done through motivational speaking, education and career guidance.

“We want to help the youth from advantaged and disadvantaged backgrounds to be responsible citizens and build an independent, dignified life for themselves,” she explained.

“We aim to inform the youth that life is not defined by survival, but by having dreams and, most of all, by having hope about the future and taking control of your live based on where you come from.

“The organisation strives to make the youth understand and believe that if you dream big, define your own success, stay motivated and work hard, there will be no limit to what you can accomplish.”

Thus the organisation requests partnering from individuals, independent organisations and government programmes in an effort to make this programme a success.

As a start of the organisation’s outreach, it has plans of donating school shoes to 462 selected learners of five schools in the Pampierstad surroundings who need school shoes for the next school year in 2017.

The next step that the organisation aims to take is to distribute 1 000 packets of sanitary pads to two high schools and two middle schools in the Pampierstad surroundings.

These schools have already been identified.
