The Kgatelo Pele Society, a stokvel community-based savings club from Reddersburg, scored in Super Jumbo Bloemfontein’s cashback competition for customers.

The stokvel’s founder, Elisa Pholoane, won R17 048,43, which she decided to share with the other seven members of the club.

The stokvel’s entry was among the thousands of entries submitted for the competition in December.

The offer entailed that the winner would receive a cashback to shop at the retailer.

This competition is Jumbo’s way of rewarding its clients.

Jumbo specialises in bulk product sales for wholesalers, therefore giving shoppers specials to save money.

In December, the winning members of the stokvel purchased goods in bulk for almost the same amount won.

Pholoane said she still cannot believe their luck.

“When I was informed that I was the lucky winner, I could not believe it. It feels great. I have decided to share the money with the other members of the stokvel, because it is through their effort that the group won. In sharing with them, I am showing my loyalty,” Pholoane said.

The Kgatelo Pele Society is exclusive for women. There are eight members in total, including Pholoane, who founded the Stokvel in 2016. Most of the members are unemployed.
