Students took matters in their own hands by renovating and cleaning classrooms and apartments they used for a bridging nursing course at the Pelenomi Hospital in Bloemfontein. They were tired of the neglected classrooms and apartments they had to use. Students use the apartments and classrooms daily for their studies and lectures. The apartment has a hall, classrooms and kitchen. These sections were in appalling conditions due to apparent neglect and lack of maintenance. This renovation was much needed.Students raised funds among themselves to purchase paint and cleaning material. In addition, they volunteered to do the renovation work themselves – painting the ceiling and walls, fixing lights that were broken as well as cleaning the kitchen. The renovations was completed over three-days.
