Gawie Victor shared the touching story of how his little girl, Gabby, who will be turning two later in October this year, beat the odds thanks to the South African National Blood Service (SANBS).

He shared his story at an SANBS event held at the Horseshoe Motel on Friday, 13 April.

Gabby was born with health complications and among other, suffered from lung infections. She also had to undergo heart surgery before she turned one year old.

The family is grateful to donors and staff of the blood bank who always made blood available to her when she needed it to survive.

At the event, the Northern Cape branch of the SANBS awarded several donors with medals as a token of appreciation.

Stakeholders were also treated to dinner.
