The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Galeshewe appeals to the community to ­assist in tracing a man who tried to rape a girl (14) on Sunday, 8 October, in Kimberley.

The incident allegedly happened around 09:15 while the girl was walking alone in Ramatseba Street.

She was nearing Mphorapoto Street when she was approached by an unknown man who tried to rape her and stabbed her in the back three times.

The girl managed to escape her attacker and ran away.

The police are inves­tigating a case of attempted rape.

According to Sgt Majang Skalkie, police spokesperson, the suspect is described as an African man, aged 16 to 20 years, who is dark in complexion and of slender build.

He is approximately 1,6 m tall with a tattoo on his forehead.

Anyone who can assist in tracing the suspect is requested to call the ­investigating officer, Det.WO Msokoli Taaibos, on 071-745-0650.
