The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit in Galeshewe is appealing to the community of Roodepan to assist in tracing a man who can assist the police in solving a case of rape in which a 46-year-old woman is the victim.

The alleged incident took place on Saturday, 27 October, at about 03:30.

The victim alleged that she was walking with her boyfriend from Lerato Park, Roodepan, to Bloemanda.

They were approached by six unknown men armed with knopkieries when they reached the soccer field at Lerato Park.

Five men allegedly chased the boyfriend and one of the suspects assaulted the victim with a knopkierie.

“He threatened the victim with a knife and allegedly raped her. Thereafter he fled the crime scene, leaving the victim on the scene,” said Sgt Majang Skalkie, spokesperson.

The suspect is an African male, light in complexion, approximately 28 years old, and of slender build.

An appeal is made to anyone who may have information about the incident or may know the location of this man to contact the investigating officer, detective WO Conrad de Jongh of the Galeshewe FCS, on 072-869-0378, or the Crime Stop Line on 08600-1011.
