Information is needed regarding a male suspect wanted for attempted rape and robbery.

The suspect allegedly attempted to rape a 43-year-old woman on Saturday, 13 January, at about 17:45.

He apparently robbed her of money.

According to Capt. Sergio Kock, police spokesperson, the incident is reported to have happened in Cheapside Street after the victim was offered a lift by the suspect.

“The victim was waiting for a lift outside Halfway House in Belgravia when an unknown white man, driving a white VW Jetta, gave her a lift.

“The suspect drove to Cheapside Street where he stopped the car and tried to kiss her.

“He also allegedly tried to undress her but she wrestled with him and managed to open the door of the car and run away,” Kock said.

According to the police the suspect also allegedly robbed the victim of R900.
