The annual Caleb Motshabi Table Tennis Tournament, which was set for 28 March in Bloemfontein, has been postponed until further notice. This complies with precautions against the spread of Covid-19. Pres. Cyril Ramaphosa declared a national state of emergency following a rapid rise in the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in South Africa. This declaration was followed by an announcement of a national lockdown for 21 days: from midnight on Thursday 26 March until 16 April. These measures become operational as confirmed Coronavirus cases continue to increase. Confirmed cases stood at 402 at the time of going to print. David Kgabele, tournament coordinator, said the federation would be informed when safety was restored.
