Taps run dry due to cable theft

The Mangaung Metro has pointed out that it will cost over R1 million to cover damages due to cable theft at the Masels­poort Water Treatment Plant.

Qondile Khedama, municipality spokes­person, said criminal dealing in cables was the cause for the water disruption during the day on Friday (25/10).

Khedama said the council has replaced the stolen items.

The suspects have been identified on CCTV-camera and a case of theft has been opened at the police for further investi­gation.
