A teenage boy (16) from Fauresmith stands accused of murder.

The teenager is expected to reappear in the Fauresmith Magistrate’s Court on 14 November following his first appearance on 10 October. The suspect has been released on conditional bail of R500.

Sgt Sinah Mpakane, provincial police spokesperson, said the suspect had reportedly stabbed Mpho Pholwana with a knife on 30 September. She said the suspect and the deceased had apparently had a falling out over unpaid money.

“The deceased reportedly went to the suspect to fetch money that he was owed. It is alleged that the deceased was selling Mandrax tablets and that he had sold some to the suspect on credit. The suspect refused to pay the victim, who then became angry, and a scuffle ensued between them,” stated Mpakane.

The suspect had allegedly taken a knife and stabbed the victim once in his neck, killing him instantly.

Mpakane said the suspect was kept at the Winkie Direko Secure Centre in Bloemfontein before being released on conditional bail into the care of his aunt in Koffiefontein.
