HARRISMITH. – The Harrismith High Court has sentenced Mohlophehi Patrick Moloi (28) from Intabazwe near Harrismith to three terms of life imprisonment, plus 15 years for aggravated robbery after he had been found guilty of raping three women during 2014.

On March 2014 the accused came across a 27-year-old woman walking home from a tavern with her friend in Intabazwe.

He assaulted the friend with a bottle after which he raped the victim in an open field. He then robbed her of her cellphone.

While he was out on bail, he committed two other crimes.

In April he raped a 24-year-old pregnant woman after gaining entry to her house.

In August of the same year, while still out on bail, he also gained entry into the house of a 65-year-old woman and raped her.

DNA analysis positively linked him to the cases.

He was sentenced to an effective three life terms in prison.

The case was investigated by Capt. Jwalane Rasunyane of the Phuthaditjhaba Family, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
