The contest to win the third-tier SAB League in the Mangaung Metro Region has seen a twist that leaves just three teams in the running.

Those with potential to ultimately win are Questas, Lazio and Kingston. This comes after Mathaithai from Botshabelo again lost some ground after drawing 1 – 1 with Young Santos on Sunday (07/04).

The competition is a three-horse race between cross-town rivals Kingston and Questas from Bloemfontein, and Lazio from Botshabelo.

Two points each separate these three teams which are contesting for the championship.

Questas are still at the top with 58 points, Lazio is second with 56 points and Kingston is in third position with 54 points.

Lazio increased their title-winning chances after hammering Bloemfontein Celtic by 3 – 0, while Questas overcame Turfflowers by 2 – 0.

Kingston were on the rampage, as they demolished City Sharkers by 4 – 0, thus ensuring they remain in the race to win the league and qualify for promotion play-offs.

The winner of the Mangaung league will compete against the winners from Fezile Dabi, Xhariep, Thabo Mofutsanyana and Lejweleputswa. The promotion play-offs will be staged in the Xhariep Region in May.

The two teams that win their games will be promoted to the second-tier rank of the ABC Motsepe League, which is the semi-professional competition in the country.

The three clubs fighting to win the league have tough matches to play on Saturday (13/04). Questas will clash with Promates, Kingston will battle it out with Celtic and Lazio will face off against Santos.

The other matches will see Kodisang FC playing host to AKJ United in Thaba Nchu, Mangaung Centre taking on Young Lions in Bloemfontein and Action Spar clashing against Sharkers in Bloemfontein.

On Sunday (14/04), Bochabela Warriors will battle it out against Future Stars in Bloemfontein. Bochabela Warriors will battle it out against Future Stars in Bloemfontein.

Lions, United and Sharkers, as well as Mangaung Soccer Centre, are facing relegation. The four remaining matches are crucial for their survival.
