Three women raped

2016-02-10 06:00

NO police arrests have been made in connection with three separate incidents in which three women were raped in Bloemfontein over the past four days.

In the most recent incident a 51-year-old woman was raped in her house in Pellissier on Tuesday (09/02) at about 07:00.

Const. Wendy Nkabi, police spokesperson, says that in Tuesday’s incident, three men overpowered the woman’s 53-year-old husband while he was jogging in the street and forced him into his house. Nkabi says while one of the robbers ransacked the couple’s home, another held the husband at gunpoint. A third suspect went into the bedroom and raped the woman. The suspects fled the scene on foot.

Nkabi says in another incident a woman, aged between 30 and 40, was approached by a man in Memoriam Road while on her way to work on Monday (08/02). She had just got off a taxi when he forced her to a secluded place at a nearby railway line where he raped her.

Also, a 33-year-old woman was attacked and raped while sleeping in her house in Genl. De Wet in the early hours of Saturday morning (06/02).

The police cannot confirm that these separate incidents are related, nor that the same suspect might be involved.
