THE Life Healthcare Group marked International Nurses Day on Thursday, 12 May, by honouring nurses at the Great 100 Nurses Award Function and committing to valuing the profession. The group has dedicated itself to training 24 000 Life Healthcare employees in all its hospitals. Some of these employees are from the Life Rosepark Hospital in Bloemfontein. The trainees will include nursing staff, doctors, students, management and partners, as well as service providers.

“These nurses (who received the awards) epitomise the group’s core values and the international standards as outlined in the Nurses’ Pledge,” said Dr Sharon Vasuthevan, group nursing executive. “Nurses are the backbone of our business and at the forefront of allowing the Life Healthcare Group to deliver on our vision of being a world-class provider of health care for all.

“We make use of our skills and resources to contribute to a resilient health system in each community where our hospitals are situated, throughout South Africa.”

With the support of the group’s headquarters, 395 staff members have already been trained.

“Care is a fundamental part of how we deliver market-leading healthcare services at the Life Rosepark Hospital,” said Hein Rossouw, manager of the Life Rosepark Hospital.

“We attach great value to ensuring that our patients are treated with respect, dignity and the empathy required and our nurses are at the forefront of providing this patient-centric care.”

The Rosepark Hospital acknowledged two of its nurses by giving them awards at the special G100 Nurses Award Function. The two recipients of the G100 awards were Sr Lerato Mosenoli of the cardiology ward and Louisa Nel, quality, safety and services specialist.

All the members of the nursing staff received a special token of appreciation in the form of a thank-you gift and voucher from Rossouw and Elizabeth Munjeri, Life Healthcare regional nurse manager: East.
