Training of nurses to improve

2018-05-30 06:01

The 2018 International Nurses Day celebrated in De Aar on 12 May, saw the Northern Cape MEC for Health, Fufe Makatong, put emphasis in developing better strategies for nursing in the province.

“Your character and professionalism confirm the notion that nursing plays an even greater role in delivering a better, faster and more convenient health care service for our communities through initiatives, such as the national core standards, ideal clinic maintenance, realisation and the nursing strategy,” Makatong said

She recommitted to work hard to open the three satellite nursing colleges in the districts of John Taolo Gaetsewe, ZF Mgcawu and Pixley ka Seme. This will enhance the intake and training of students and improve the shortage of staff the department experiences. She promised to appoint additional lecturers and preceptors for the Henrietta Nursing College.
