A FORMER member of the Lesotho National Defence Force and his female companion are facing a charge of dealing in drugs following their arrest in connection with Mandrax tablets worth R450 000. They were due to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court. Capt. Chaka Marope, the Park Road Police Cluster spokesperson, said the two suspects, aged 43 and 36, were busted on Wednesday (20/07) during a routine stop and search operation in Bloemfontein. Marope said the suspects had been arrested when the police discovered mandrax tablets in two plastic bags in a white BMW X3 with Gauteng registration number plates. The vehicle was travelling on the N8 from Bloemfontein to Lesotho. The confiscated drug merchandise was destined for Lesotho for a transaction deal. Marope said the car had been confiscated and the Police were continuing with investigations into the origin of the drugs. The woman is a South African citizen.
