Two jailed after burglary

Two robbers have been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment each by the Thaba Nchu Magistrate’s Court for burglary and the assault of a Thaba Nchu man.

The accused, Simon Possa (31) and Galeboe Khuduga (29), were sentenced on Tuesday, 28 November, for crimes committed in April this year.

They remained behind bars for the duration of the trial since their arrest two days after the robbery.

The court heard that Khuduga and Possa cornered the victim at his house and demanded money while threatening him with a garden spade. One of the assailants hit the complainant on the head with the spade and thereafter took an undisclosed amount of money.

Const. Peter Kareli, provincial police spokesperson, says a successful prosecution followed the thorough investigation by Const. Thabang Mokone, who caught the robbers two days after the incident.
