The Engaged Learning Festival and the seventh Father Heart Series that was the initiative of the late Izak Botes, will be held again at the University of the Free State (UFS) from 3 to 5 September.

This year the theme is “#Re-imagine Futures: Towards Social Cohesion”. The aim of the workshops is to create sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable persons.

The learning festival started seven years ago and creates a platform for people to learn entrepreneurial skills.

Since the inception of the Father Heart Series conference, the UFS Faculty of Health Schiences became involved through participation of students on a volunteer basis. Today a number of students and faculties are involved in volunteer work, not only at Bloem Shelter where Botes was the director before passing away, but also at other non-profit organisations.

Direct enquiries about participation to Jean-Ray Ludeke at admin@bloemshelter.co.za or call her on 078-496-7273.
