The staff at the Resthaven Old Age Home in Kimberley welcomed the donation of winter relief items and food parcels by the Evening Ladies Branch of the Wesley Methodist Church on Wednesday (06/06).

The donated items included maize meal, tea, coffee, eggs, vegetables, fish and toiletries for the residents.

The items were delivered by representatives of the branch, Brenda Orton and Val Vermeulen. Caps, scarves, bed socks and blankets, given by the Christel Armstrong Knitting Guild, formed part of the donation.

Orton said it was an honour and privilege to help elderly citizens.

Soon after the handing over of the donation, the elderly residents of Resthaven were wrapped up warmly in the knitted blankets.

Linda Beukes, acting manager at the centre, expressed her gratitude towards the Methodist Church for continuously thinking of them.

“I am truly happy for their efforts in keeping the elderly warm this winter. We appreciate their kindness,” said Beukes.

She said the Methodist Church in Kimberley were among the communities that continued to show support to this home, caring for the elderly.
