A warning is issued by the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) regarding the current state of the reservoirs in the Northern Cape.

Reports indicate that the Northern Cape’s rivers and water storage dam levels continue to decline week after week.

Residents of the province are advised to continue using water sparingly while municipalities implement water conservation programmes.

Currently, the total storage of water in the Northern Cape is at 83,8% from the previous week’s 86%. The Vaal River is at 84,8% from 85,4%, while the Orange River is at 63,7% from last week’s 64,4%.

Spitskop Dam in the Harts River is at 81,3% from 83,3%, while the Vaalharts Storage stands at 76,1% from 76,8%.

The Douglas Storage Weir is at 92,7% from 102,9%, while Boegoeberg is at 106,5% and the Karee River at 0,4%.
