Consumers in the Free State are urged to continue using water sparingly.
The dam levels in the province remain low.
The Department of Water and Sanitation has issued a statement confirming that after recent rainfall, the water levels of dams in the province had increased by a mere 4,4% to reach 54%.
This time last year, the levels were at 55,7%.
The levels of the four dams mainly serving Mangaung had increased by 1,1% to reach a level of 37,9%, better than last year’s 28,3%.
Recent rain has seen the flow of the Caledon River, but the department continues to pump water from the Tienfontein Pump Station on the Caledon.
The Welbedacht Dam was reportedly still overflowing after its levels increased to 106,9%.
Water restrictions of 30% for urban and 75% for irrigation areas still apply, as the severe drought is still not over.
