A new competition to select the ideal woman to become an ambassador of Mangaung will take place on 8 December.

The event will be held at the Emoya Estate in Bloemfontein. The competition, the Queens of Mangaung, will take the format of a pageant.

Ester Prior and Nella van Heerden, owner of the Mev. Bloemfontein competition, partnered with Dream Ambassador South Africa to initiate the Queens of Mangaung pageant.

Five women from Bloemfontein have already been shortlisted as finalists, but only one will be named as the Queen of Mangaung.

According to Prior, the winner will become the ambassador to promote Mangaung and its community.

“She will be assisted by her first and second princesses to help make a positive difference in the community,” she said.

“The competition aims to empower women and enable them to become an ambassador of their community.”

She said each finalist was already involved with charity organisations of her choice, and conducted outreach programmes in her immediate community.
