Rapidly rising young footballer Kabelo Mantje has received a chance to unlock his potential internationally.

The youngster has been selected to be a part of the Simsport International team alongside 16 Cape Town-based players.

Kabelo will feature in a tournament scheduled to take place in Dubai from 3 to 6 April.

Kabelo, a Gr. 10 learner of the Louis Botha Technical High School in Bloemfontein, will jet-off to Dubai on 31 March alongside his peers.

“I was chosen last year for the tournament in Dubai,” he said.

The teenager excelled in a series of development tournaments for his school, Free State and national u.17 teams of the South African Football Association (Safa).

He impressed talent scouts of the football federation.

In December, Kabelo was selected for Safa’s u.17 national team which represented South Africa at the Four Nations Tournament staged in Lesotho from 7 to 12 December.

His talent also saw him selected for the u.21 squad that represented South Africa A at an international Four Nations Tournament, also in Lesotho, from 13 to 17 December.

Apart from being chosen for provincial and national teams, Kalebo was also included in the team that participated in the Bloemfontein Celtic u.17 development tournaments – putting on an impressive performance.

In 2016 Kalebo was part of the top 100 Vodacom NXT LVL boys scouted in South Africa. The squad attended a skills training boot-camp over ten days at the University of Pretoria’s High Performance Centre where the players were coached and mentored by football legends.

Kabelo regards the tournament in Dubai as a once- in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete internationally.

“This is a chance to realise my potential and my dream to be a professional player,” he said.

Kabelo’s participation depends on the availability of sponsorships.
