Youth camp to promote life skills

2018-12-05 06:00

The annual seven day provincial youth camp commenced on 2 December for 250 Gr. 11’s of the Northern Cape at the Warrenton Pleasure Resort.

This is hosted under the theme “One Heart One Africa” by the Provincial Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, together with National Sport and Recreation and other strategic partners.

This camp hopes to nurture the spirit of social cohesion and nation building by providing the youth with leadership and life skills that will help them develop into proud and patriotic leader citizens.

The young participants also known as Trailblazers will set a day aside for community service, where they will be visiting impoverished communities in the vicinity of the camp venue to do community work.

The teams will be doing minor repairs to identified Early Childhood Centres around Warrenton.

A number of Alumni from last year’s camp will also be attending, but will be assuming the role of camp stewards.

The camp is set to end on 8 December.
