Youth have matured greatly

2016-09-21 06:00

THE 2016 local government elections have come and gone.

Yet we still need to motivate our people like we did before the elections.

Our heritage goes hand in glove with people participation in power structures.

The third sphere of government in South African politics was highly contested and have put questions regarding the status quo.

The role played by the 1976 youth formations has been taken over by the politically active youth of today, who have shown that they have respected the electo-ral laws and the outcome of the elections.

Regardless of ideological and political affiliation, all who have participated in the democratic elections have shown the world they can do so fearlessly and in a mature manner.

More young people will be contesting the elections in 2019 and 2021 for positions of authority.

This generation has set the trend and consolidated the meaning of “democracy and accountability”.

The youth of South Africa has set an example to Africa. We have become a mature generation.
