Grab your shoes and walk to Lilani

2015-06-17 06:00

SUNDAY 21 June is Father’s Day so celebrate the day by making it a family outing taking part in the annual Letcee Lilani Walk. Dads taking part will receive a gift. Proceeds from the day are used to provide early learning opportunities for the many young children who would otherwise begin school at a huge disadvantage.

This is the fifth time the walk has taken place and each year the participants have commented on the fun, fabulous scenery and fantastic atmosphere. This year, the route will be slightly different.

As Lilani resort is closed while the facilities are upgraded and extended, the walk will finish across the river at the community sports ground.

To meet the 10km course, the start has been moved down the hill and will be clearly signposted. There will be safe parking (with a security guards present all day) or participants can park at the finish and be transported back to the start.

Although the event starts at 11am, participants are reminded that it takes at least half an hour to drive down to the finish and the last transport to the start will leave the finish at 10.20am. You can choose to walk two, five or 10km and have the choice of walking, running or cycling.

There are lots of lucky-draw prizes and food and drinks will be on sale at the end.
