Greytown Racing Pigeon Club news

2015-06-17 06:00

IT is said that and#034;change is as good as a holidayand#034;. If that is true then MLofts is having that holiday.

Saturdayand#039;s results saw a change in their fortune as they were triumphant by gaining their first win of the season in the open race from Standerton.

Liberated at 9.15am the winning pigeon arrived home at 12.39pm to record a velocity of 1191 metres per minute over the 244 km distance. MLofts also gained eighth and 10th positions.

The Old Grizzle clocked two minutes later at 12.41pm to place in second position and also Attieand#039;s favourite position of fourth and then ninth place.

The Naicker Bros, although clocking at the same time as the Old Grizzle, were beaten by distance, and gained third position with a veolicty of 1172.822 into the Old Grizzleand#039;s 1182.583. Naicker Bros also filled 5th, fifth, sixth and seventh positions in this race. Although the weather was fine one would have expected velocities to be higher, but we donand#039;t know what the birds encounter on the journey home. The later birds probably did a trip to the seaside for a dip in the briny before coming home.

Next week is a yearling race from Vrede and Kestall when another Naicker joins the family - welcome Romy.

Standerton results:

MLofts: 1st, 8th,10th, 1191.981, 583.553

TRTatham: 2nd, 4th, 9th, 1182.583, 1104.724, 533.782

Naicker Bros: 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 1172.822, 1057.61, 866.082, 790.534
