Greytown Racing Pigeon Club news

2015-07-01 06:05

DUE to inclement weather on Saturday at the race point of Bethal, it was decided that the race would be flown on Sunday. Once again the weather gods decided to intervene and sent heavy mist, so instead of an 8am liberation the birds were let go at 9.45am

This did not deter the winning pigeon from flying the 294 km distance at a velocity of 1244 metres per minute to arrive home at 13.41 to give MLofts his second win of the season.

Following close on his heels came the Naicker Bros pigeon at 13.44 to gain them second position at a velocity of 1220 metres per minute.

Staggering in at 14.57 came the old Grizzle’s pigeon at a velocity of 933 metres to notch third position. Once again the beach holds too many attractions.

Again a strange race, although weather conditions seemed to be perfect on the day.

Naicker Bros also claimed 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 places with the last bird clocked at 16.57.

Quite a drop in velocities, obviously our birds have been pulled down by greater number. The Old Grizzle also managed to claim seventh position in this race.

Next week is a yearling race from Vrede.

MLofts: 1st: 1244.168

Naciker Bros: 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9. 1220.574, 900.150, 885.134, 854.847, 698.518, 676.039;

T.R. Tatham: 3, 7, 933.060, 730.161.

Good flying
