Greytown Racing Pigeon Club news

2015-07-15 06:00

WHAT a wind on Saturday. It certainly did not suit the pigeons which do not enjoy flying with a tail wind as they do not have any directional control with the wind pushing behind them.

They were blown past Greytown and had to work their way back home

Even under those conditions, Naicker Bros bird managed to set up a velocity of 1419 metres per minute to win the race.

This after flying around the rooftops for half an hour before being clocked without their fly past Greytown, and fooling around, the velocity would have been around 1 600 metres per minute.

Twenty-one minutes later at 13.19 the Old Grizzle clocked the second-placed pigeon with Naicker Bros third placer clocking 10 minutes later.

At last fourth position has been lifted from the Old Grizzle’s shoulders and handed to MLofts who clocked at 13.39.

Of the 10 birds on the result sheet Naicker Bros filled six positions, Old Grizzle three and MLofts one.

Naicker Bros also won the trophy for the first blue bird home.

Next week is a yearling race form Standerton, a distance of 245kms and Lindley approximately 240kms when uncle and nephew again do battle against each other.

Naicker Bros: 1st; 3rd; 5th; 8th; 9th; 10th: 1419.639; 12155.503;1206.654; 843,851; 778.766; 740.187;

TR Tatham: 2nd; 6th; 7th: 1314 966; 945.180; 931.173

MLofts: 4th: 1230.798.
