HAIL the conquering Naickers. Once again the brothers surge to the fore to take the first three positions in the race from Marble Hall on Saturday – a distance of 454 kilometres. Liberated at 7.30am, their first arrival at 13.32 recorded a velocity of 1253 mpm to be followed by the second and third birds at 13.27.04 and 13.27.24 respectively with velocities of 1089.972 and 1089.101 which shows they came together, the only difference being the time to remove the ring and get it into the clock. The brothers also placed fifth, sixth and eighth positions.

Fourth position was filled by the Old Grizzle’s pigeon arriving at 15.23 to attain a velocity of 965 mpm. Seventh was filled by MLofts pigeon who obviously thought walking was better than flying, arriving at 16.59 to record a velocity of 801.187 mpm.

Of a total of 14 pigeons sent, there were eight clocked with the others drifting in at their leisure.

Next week is a yearling race from two points - Bethal on the north route and Kroonstad on the north -west route, distances approximately 300kms and 320kms. We will only be flying from Bethal, so here’s hoping for a good day and results.
