Greytown Racing Pigeon news

2015-07-29 06:00

WHAT a pleasure it was to at last have some rain, although a lot more is needed.

Due to the expected inclement weather, it was decided to postpone our Marble Hall liberation until next week. Mind you, looking at the long-range forecast the weather may not be all that bright then.

Our combine was not the only combine to cancel - the past weekend’s races at the Border Homing Union were due to liberate in Greytown on Sunday, and after phoning to inquire about the weathe they also decided against racing and taking a chance on losing many pigeons. All being well they will have their birds here on Sunday for an 8am liberation. For those interested - we will probably liberate at the Mascor garage on the outskirts of Greytown.

The birds certainly enjoyed the rain with mine sitting on the loft and lawn, wings outspread having a good shower. They don’t seem to mind the cold, unlike their owner.

As mentioned earlier, next Saturday hopefully, will see us have a liberation from Marble Hall and we are hoping for a good race and good results.

For those who have been inquiring about Attie Joubert, I would like to report that he is slowly recovering his good health and is looking forward to flying his birds next year.

Until next week when we hope to have a race report - good flying.
